Five Winter Drinks to Warm your Spirit

Winter is the perfect time to enjoy some delicious and comforting hot drinks! Here are five of my favorite winter drinks to keep you warm and cozy: 

1. Hot Chocolate: A classic favorite. Enjoy a steaming cup topped with marshmallows, whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. 

2. Mulled Wine: A festive favorite. Warm up a bottle of red wine with some orange peel, cinnamon sticks, and a few cloves for a delicious and aromatic winter drink. 

3. Chai Latte: A creamy, spiced delight. Combine chai tea and steamed milk for a creamy and flavorful winter beverage. 

4. Apple Cider: A sweet treat. Simmer some apple cider with a few cinnamon sticks and a sprinkle of nutmeg to make a flavorful and aromatic winter drink. 

5. Hot Toddy: A cozy favorite. Mix together hot water, lemon juice, honey, and whiskey for a warm and soothing winter drink.


Recipe for Hot Chocolate


Here is a delicious recipe for hot chocolate that you can make at home!

Ingredients: 

2 cups of whole milk

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

2 tablespoons of sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Optional: 1 pinch of sea salt

Instructions: 

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and Vanilla extract. 

2. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar and cocoa powder have dissolved. 

3. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. 

4. Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 5 minutes. 

5. Add a pinch of sea salt (optional) for flavor. 

6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir the hot chocolate for a few minutes until it reaches the desired consistency. 

7. Pour into mugs and enjoy!


Recipe for Mulled Wine

Here's a great Mulled Wine recipe that I love to make in the winter. You'll need:

  • 1 bottle of red wine (merlot or cabernet sauvignon are good choices)
  • 2 cups of apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3-star anise
  • 2 oranges, cut into thin slices
  • 1 lemon, cut into thin slices

Instructions: 

1. In a large pot, heat the red wine and apple cider over medium-high heat. 

2. Add the honey, stirring until it dissolves. 

3. Add the cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, orange slices, and lemon slices. 

4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. 

5. Strain the mulled wine into mugs or glasses and enjoy!


Recipe for Chai Latte


A Chai Latte is a delicious and comforting beverage. Here's a simple recipe to make your own chai latte at home:

Ingredients:

2 tsp. chai tea

1 cup of hot water

1/4 cup of milk (use your favorite type)

1-2 tsp. of honey or agave nectar

Instructions:

  • Begin by steeping the chai tea in the hot water for 3-5 minutes.
  • Heat the milk in a small saucepan on medium-low heat until hot but not boiling.
  • Add the honey or agave nectar to the milk and stir until the sweetener has dissolved.
  • Strain the chai tea into a mug.
  • Add the milk to the mug and stir.
  • If desired, top with some foam or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Ingredients: 

8 apples (any variety) 

2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons of ground nutmeg

2 teaspoons of ground cloves

6 cups of cold water

Instructions: 

1. Wash and core the apples.

2. Cut the apples into small pieces and place them into a large pot.

3. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar to the pot.

4. Pour the cold water into the pot and stir the mixture together.

5. Bring the pot to a boil and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve and discard the solids.

7. Serve the apple cider warm or chilled and enjoy!


Recipe for Hot Toddy


A Hot Toddy is a classic winter drink that is perfect for a chilly night! Here's a delicious recipe that you can make at home:

Ingredients:

1. 2 ounces of whiskey or brandy 

2. 1 teaspoon of honey 

3. 1/2 lemon, squeezed 

4. 8 ounces of hot water

Instructions:
